Description of Surah Al-Fatiha, Ayah 5
Arabic Text:
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
Translation:
“We worship You alone, and You alone we ask for help.”
Tafsir (Explanation):
This section is a statement of the devotee’s finished commitment and reliance on Allah. It connotes that love and looking for help ought to be coordinated exclusively to Allah, recognizing that He is the main genuine god and the one in particular who can give assistance.
- “We worship You alone” means that all acts of worship, such as prayer, fasting, and acts of kindness, should be performed exclusively for Allah.
- “We ask for help from You alone” underscores that all types of help, whether in common matters or in the midst of trouble, ought to be looked for just from Allah, as He is a definitive wellspring of solidarity and direction.
This section mirrors the idea of Tawhid (the Unity of God), where an individual confirms that Allah alone merits love and is the one in particular who can give assistance and backing in each part of life. It cultivates modesty and reliance on Allah, reminding devotees to go to Him for direction and help in all circumstances.
